Kalkaska Restaurant Comfort Food

Take refuge from the cold Michigan winter at our Kalkaska restaurant.

All the blustery days and relentlessly cold temperatures make some of us wish we could hibernate like other creatures. We have good news to get you through till spring! When you venture out, you’ll find a warm welcome and all that yummy winter comfort food you crave during the long months at our Kalkaska restaurant.

You can start your day right with a hearty breakfast at the Trout Town Tavern & Eatery. Perhaps the thought of a breakfast platter (choose from trout, crispy bacon, sliced ham and other mouth-watering options), build-your-own omelet, baked oatmeal, or a perfectly prepared breakfast burrito will be an incentive to get out of bed and face the cold?

Trout Town Tavern & Eatery’s amazing lunch and dinner menu also features many options to warm you up against winter’s chill. Come in out of the cold and enjoy our hand-crafted burgers made from certified chuck and served with piping hot fresh-cut Michigan fries, or perhaps a nice plate of homemade meatloaf, fish and chips, or slow-smoked beef brisket.

Best of all, after hours battling snowdrifts and ice, a visit to our Kalkaska restaurant eases your day a bit because you won’t have to fuss with meal preparation or clean up (but you still get that great homemade taste no matter which delicious menu item you choose!). You can also enjoy our weekly specials (Monday Margaritas and Mexican or Friday Fish Feast anyone?) There’s a different special each day of the week!

After a long trek snowshoeing or enjoying other outdoor activities, our Kalkaska restaurant is a great place to refuel. Our hearty, homemade soups will fortify you and bring the warmth back to even the coldest fingers and toes. You have your choice of a cup or bowl of chicken white bean chili, creamy sharp cheddar ale, or beef vegetable barley. On Fridays, Chef Dan prepares his delicious homemade New England clam chowder, which is served until it’s gone. Many people make sure to take an early lunch on Fridays so they don’t miss out!

If you’re just looking to duck in out of the cold, we also serve wonderful hot cocoa with whipped cream or steaming hot mugs of the Riverbend Coffee Blend freshly ground in house.

Winter in Michigan might be cold, but it doesn’t have to be bleak. Come in out of the cold and warm up in the wonderful atmosphere of our Kalkaska restaurant. You’ll find the Trout Town Tavern & Eatery at the corner of 66th & Elm Street in downtown Kalkaska.
